Week of June 13th
It's the last week of classes and students are doing a good job of turning in projects and enjoying some cultural work in French and Spanish. We are watching movies in the target language to inspire us until we return in the Fall.

Week of May 23rd
Students are learning about culture this week.
French classes are watching the French classic "le Petit Nicolas."
Spanish classes are watching a Globetrekker documentary about Spain. 
Looking forward to seeing you all at conferences!

Week of April 11th
This week all grades will be working on MEA testing. Bonne chance and Buena suerte to all students!

Week of April 4th
Grade 8 is exploring conjugation and free writes in addition to Nouvel Houdini.
Grade 7 is reading Brandon Brown Quebec and doing writing exercises.
Grade 6 is learning about sentences structures through games and activities.

Week of March 28th
Grade 8 continues Nouvel Houdini Chapters 6 and 7 and reviewing verbs.
Grade 7 French is reading Brandon Brown Quebec chapters 6 and 7 and conjugating verbs. Spanish is reading Brandon Brown Yucatan and conjugating verbs.
Grade 6 French and Spanish are learning about animals through games and activities.

Week of March 21st
Grade 8 is reading Le Nouvel Houdini Chapters 6 - 7
Grade 7 French is reading Brandon Brown Quebec Chapters 6-7. Spanish is reading Brandon Brown Yucatan Chapters 6-7.
Grade 6 French is acting out The Life of a Caterpillar. Spanish is learning about animals and playing games.

Week of March 14th
Grade 8 is reading Chapter 5 of Le Nouvel Houdini and creating a short 30 second car advertisement in French to share with the class.
Grade 7 French is reading Chapter 5 of Brandon Brown in Quebec and they are presenting a page of images and information about French food in Quebec City or l'île d'Orléans.  Spanish classes are reading Brandon Brown in Yucatan and playing games such as Mentirosa.
Grade 6 French is working on a short Readers Theater called The Voice of the Caterpillar. Spanish class is reading Bailey in Spanish. 

Week of March 7th
Students are enjoying movies in the target language with English subtitles as a short break from reading chapter books.
French classes are watching Mr. Bean's Holiday.
Spanish classes are watching Brother Bear.
Students fill out exit slips and we will discuss the movie, it's themes and characters afterward. 

Week of March 1st
Welcome to March! 
Grade 8 explores one of the themes of Le Nouvel Houdini by learning about French cars. Students are working in teams to create a 30-second car advertisement in French that they will present to class. Here is an interesting example online:French car commercial - Renault
Grade 7 French class explores a theme from La Conquëte de Québec by working with a partner to create a page about food in Quebec City and l'île d'Orléans. Here's an example of a local Maple Sugar Business. Spanish class is developing vocabulary as well as learning and practicing skits from the Yucatán.
Grade 6 is finishing up their books, showing their understanding through Kahoot quizzes and learning about Paris and Mexico.

Week of February 22nd

This week we continue to read chapter books in all three grades!
Grade 8: Le Nouvel Houdini / El Nuevo Houdini
Grade 7: Brandon Brown à la conquête de Québec /Brandon Brown vs. Yucatán
In French we learn more about Brandon Brown's vacation destination by investigating food in Île d'Orléans and Quebec City.  Students work with partners to present information on a real class, shop or restaurant in the region.  An example of an interesting place is a 370-year-old shop: Cheese Shop in Île d'Orléans
