CONTENT MEETING OVERVIEW

Preparation-Participants should arrive with a learning standard that they are planning to teach or enhance as a focus for their day. This standard will serve as a basis for learning and questions so that the day's experience can be applied to what actually needs to be taught in participant's classrooms.

Format-Rather than offer separate days for each subject area, in this round of content meetings we will offer two types of sessions: Math/Science and Humanities. There will be two Math/Science days and two Humanities days in each region. Teachers may choose either day in the math/science or humanities as the days will be the same. The standard the teacher has chosen to focus on will help determine which type of day she or he should attend. (For example, a science teacher may attend the humanities day if the format better meets his/her need and visa versa.)

Math and Science
The focus of math and science (which can include health, physical education, technology education [traditionally known as "shop"])
An immersion experience using tools for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting real world data for science and math classrooms. The day will include model strategies for effective instruction and collecting evidence of student learning.

Humanities
Focus of humanities (language arts, social studies, consumer science, visual and performing arts)
We will look at:
