Digital Imaging Doug Snow and Bob Trikakis Apple Computer What is the difference between a jpeg, bmp, or gif? How do you know how big an image really is? What size image is best for e-mail, iMovies, or presentations? How can you edit images using iPhoto? Learn the answer to these questions, as well as others, as you explore digital imaging with the experts. A103 1
Trouble Shooting Tips and Tricks Crystal Priest Guilford Schools Things won't print? Can't get on the network? Your WorldBook is gone? Come learn how to solve these simple problems and other problems that arise in the classroom. Beware...you may learn some "cool" tricks, too. B101 1

Learn to put pictures and graphics with your information and to utilize this powerful tool for all your needs. B102 1
Geographic Information Systems: A Tool for School Brigit Kirouac/Terry Martin Maine Office of the GIS/ESRI A demonstration of some of the many ways GIS can be used to help educate students across the curriculum. Specifically, use of the IMS project that displays Maine's new high resolution orthoimagery (aerial photography corrected for elevation). Find your house! B103 1
Hands-on Science learning using iBooks and PASCO probeware David Small Pasco LetÕs get our hands dirty! LetÕs get rambunctious! LetÕs do some real-life, hands-on math and science! WeÕll begin with some temperature measurements and then explore math and graphing with a motion sensor. For those brave and hardy souls thereÕs even calculus, but donÕt worry, Ôcoz itÕs an awful lot easier than you think, once you have these simple tools and real-world applications. Then weÕll investigate the perils of wearing just a cotton T-shirt when you go hiking above treeline, as well as explore why� acid rain truly is an urgent and real threat to our watersheds. Then weÕll finish up with some explorations of light and sound, both from a practical and mathematical point of view. So come prepared to ask questions and participate but most of all, be sure to wear comfortable shoes, because you wonÕt be sitting down much during this workshop! B104 1
Fun with Animation Using iMovie Lucille Hussey Massabesic Jr. High Learn how to make a cartoon with iMovie. Students like to draw cartoons, why not animate them. All you need is a digital camera (DV or Still) and iMovie. B108 1

Math Applets John M. Robbins SEED/Technology Integrators and Collaborators Math applets are web-based, interactive, self-contained applications that are free and easily adaptable to fit your math curriculum needs. Math applets allow students to understand math concepts with greater fluency in a shorter amount of time. From fractions to graphing quadratic equations, students are able to visualize and manipulate data, understand how and when to apply these concepts and build their understanding through individualized instruction. Using the Maine Memory Network to Bring Local History to Life Steve Bromage Maine Historical Society During this session, you will experience a hands-on demonstration of the Maine Memory Network and discuss local history projects made possible and supported by it. The Maine Memory Network (www.mainememory.net) is a statewide digital museum, developed by the Maine Historical Society, that enables historical societies, museums, and libraries throughout Maine to share their collections through one centralized, Web accessible database. The site provides teachers, students, and the general public with unprecedented access to a growing digital archive of primary source documents (currently more than 4,000) of local, state, and national significance. Join us to learn how to design your layout and enter new records for all the books you read. The simple directions and a sample booklog database can be loaded onto your laptop during this session. Looking for next year, this tech team includes 6th graders on its roster. A brief demonstration will be made showing participants how to download pictures into iPhoto. Participants are encouraged to bring pre loaded photos in iPhoto to use in the workshop, although this is not a requirement for participation. B103 2
