The Geo Game
The Global SchoolNet Foundation has supported GeoGame since 1991 with email sessions offered in the Fall, Winter and Spring of each school year. Geography, social studies, and writing are a focus as students learn geography terms, learn how to read and interpret maps, and increase awareness of geographical and cultural diversity.

Commanding Heights- Battle for the World Economy- This is an incredible site! Its purpose is to create a better understanding of globalization, world trade and economic development, including the forces, values, events, and ideas that have shaped the present global economic system. The Commanding Heights Storyline provides a complete netcast of the entire six-hour television program anytime, on demand, following the television broadcast. Each episode of the program is divided into chapters, captioned and enhanced with additional interactive content not available on television.There is an interactive historical atlas that tracks economic development for color coded countries.Individual country reports provide an in-depth look at each of the countries listed below. These interactive, multi-category timelines summarize the economic development of each nation from 1910 to the present. Interviews with people, both written and video, that influence our global economy.Video essays, resources, educator help.

The UN Virtual Tour

The Inagural Classroom- This is the first official inaugural presidential website and it is hosted by PBS OnLine. This is an interactive website, which has been developed and will offer a collection of suggested lesson plans to enable middle school and high school teachers to work with students on line to learn about citizenship, democracy and the history of American inaugurations.

History Connections

The History Channel.com- An incredible resource. Their online tours are interactive and, even better, interesting to all ages. A must see!

HyperHistory On-Line- HyperHistory is an expanding scientific project presenting 3,000 years of world history with an interactive combination of synchronoptic lifelines, timelines, and maps.

Black History- Six Web sites were created as models to suggest ways to integrate the World Wide Web and videoconferencing into classroom learning. African-American History was chosen as a topic because of its importance, popularity and the wealth of Internet resources available on the topic.

American Studies

Webbing the Curriculum- How do you make U.S. History come alive for eighth graders? Students at Brunswick Junior High School in Brunswick, ME formed a company to create their own history textbook.

US National Archives- An incredible resource! The online exhibits give a visual window to US History. Find lessons and applications in the digital classroom.

The History Buff- A historical reference of press coverage from the 16th to 20th century. Check out the History Buff Presidential Library, interactive quizes on American history, newspaper archive, and a collection of audio selections of famous Americans. (Audio uses RealPlayer)

Smithsonian National Museum of American History-The virtual tours at this site are interactive and informative. Excellent introduction to a variety of topics.

HyperText History: Critical Issues of American History- An interactive, multimedia history of the United States from the Revolution to the present, sponsored by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.

American History Resource Center- A great resource that includes a number of interactive American history resources.

Powers of Persuasion- Poster Art from WWII

The Underground Railroad-An interactive tale of the Underground Railroad from National Geographic. Students make choices as slaves throughout the slide show and are told the consequences of thesechoices. Good graphics and audio.

The Black History Museums Online Exhibits- Clear, easy to follow information on the history of Black Americans.
