The title is normaly the thing that grabs me when looking for a book. That is why I read the book. I also heard alot of other people saying it was really good, but I didn’t bother to pick it up. Then my friend really pushed me to, and I did. Im sure glad! It was the best book I have ever read. I could read this book over and over again, I probably will!
 Where the book takes place is normally not the type of settings I like to read about. But the way this was described and how much detail it had in it did not make it a boring book what-so-ever. Settings like it the mid west and plains and farms like that kind of turn me off to the book because its normally so...plain. But they way Karen Hesse wrote about this was so awesome, I was very suprised.
 The humor was unbelievable. Every single character had the greatest personality. There was not one character I didn’t like to read about. They seemed so real too! Sometimes a character in a story will have a personality that is too good to be real. Nobody is too nice or generous and this book brings out the real personality’s in people. I like books that are realistic like that.
 The emotions in the book are sooo so sad! Thats what kept me reading the book. I like upbeat funny and down to earth books, and eventhough this book is so sad, it is very down to earth. In the days that this book takes place, there is so much trauma that is going on in society but mostly weather wise. The weather is just killing the crops and making things alot more complicated with everyone. It really showed me how much harder it was to live back in the days where you do not have everything handed to you on a silver platter. You had to work probably 10 times harder to get what you want and get things done then you do today. We have alot better techonology and things that just make our lifes alot more easier. I do not even want to imagine what it was like 100 or so years ago.
 Eventhought this book has alot of problems in it with the characters and isn’t all happy-go-lucky, I would reccomend this b ook to anybody no matter what types of books you like to ready and if this type isn’t you style. If you do not read out of the dust, you are missing out.
