Today in class we are going to learn about my favorite author Kristana
Gregory. I will tell you why she is my favorite author, because she
writes very well and has a lot of description and well, I think that
is all. I have scheduled someone that knew her when she was a little
kid and that is me,and I am going to tell you about her!! Well lets
start with this she was born in Los Angeles, California, and that is where
I grew up also she and I grew up two blocks from the ocean in Manhattan
Beach. Kristana lived with her younger brother, sister, mom & dad.
She had no pets and neither did I but there was always a neighborhood
cat that befriended us ( followed us around). Guess what we were
such good friends that we ended up going to the same collage and everything
so here they are. We went to three different elementary schools two junior
highs and three high schools. The favorite books that she has written
are The stowaway: A Tale of California Pirates and Orphan runaways.
They are both set in our home state in early California and they are based
on real people and real events. She based these books on her boys
and her boys friends that did not like to read. She started writing
when she was around the age of ten although her stories were not very long
maybe a paragraph or so on the length. If I had told her that she
would not have grown up to be an author she would not have believed that
it would have come true. Her dreams were to be an airline person or a ballerina(
she dances as well as a fairy princess)!! I asked her a question
that I think every writer would say yes to. It was does she get writer’s
block and she said yes and said that it happened all of the time, and when
she gets it she tries to write a letter and get all of her ideas down.
Kristana also has a few rituals in the day that she starts writing, here
they are when her boys were little she would get up at 4:30 in the morning
and put on a pot of strong coffee and she would write as fast as
she could until the boys got up. She takes the phone off of the hook
reads the bible and prays. Then after 40 minutes she puts the phone
on the hook, sharpens a bunch of pencils and makes sure that they had fresh
erasers on the top( the colored pointy kind). I also asked her what
a few of her favorites were and here is what she said “ Blues and purples
with a little fuchsia thrown in. Food-wise, I love just about anything.
When I’m being disciplined I eat salads and fresh fruit, but when I’m enjoying
life it’s chocolate and oatmeal cookies.” When we had spare time
we bout enjoyed to swim, walk, read, spend time with family, hang out with
girlfriends, and watch our husbands gardens. Now I have a little
supprise for you and it is that i am the author that I was talking about
kristana Gregory, that is how I know so much about her.
