George's Veiw
“Come on guys, push. I am not that skinny,” I cried.
“Were pushing as hard a we can,” Bess screamed up to George, “It is sort of hard, you know?”
“Just don’t let any one catch you up there!” Nancy exclaimed.
“And don’t take all day either,” Bess hollered.
“A little bit more guys and I am out, eeeeeeeee. AAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhh. Finally I got out of that book,” I announced.
“Bye George,” Bess and Nancy stated in unison.
I closed book the behind me, not slamming it so I wouldn’t get caught.
“Since I was the smallest I had to be sent on the mission. The mission to find out what the next mystery for the next book is. Cheesy mission, huh. I will just have to pretend that it is cooler. I will be nananah…George Bond, like James Bond, or Nancy Drew. My real name is George Fayne. I am from the Nancy Drew Mysteries. My best friend Nancy Drew is a famous detective who solves mysteries internationally. The last mystery she solved was “The Ghost of Blackwood Hall”. We found this extra door in the mansion that is very small, a tunnel that kids would play in. It led to this other door that connected to the real world. The real world is so, so real I guess. Now to get back on my mission, I am in his study where Edward Stratemeyer writes his books. Edward really writes our books, but uses the name Carolyn Keene. The room is fairly small, an 8ft. x 10ft. It has dark cherry wood on all walls. There is a bookcase filled with Nancy Drew books and a desk with papers that would tower over the empire state building. Next to that is a trash can with tons of crumpled up used papers. How can I possibly find our next story with all these papers? This is going to be impossible. I better start looking if I ever want to find it. You think he’s got enough pencils? There has to be at least fifteen of them here.”
I thumbed through the paper to see if he started another book of ours, or at least wrote the plot down. I flipped over a paged. Something caught my eye,
“Hey, this is my name. I wonder if he wrote the title?” There it was smack dab on the first line. “The Clue of the Leaning Chimney”. “That’s the new book my mission is over, yes! Wait, but that means I need to go back to the plain old book world. This stinks, I wish I could stay here longer. Uh oh, I hear footsteps. Quick where’s the door?”
My heart was beating faster and faster as the footsteps were getting louder and louder. I jumped in the door as the office door opened. I shut the tunnel door right in time. I sat in the dark tunnel for a few minutes so I could catch my breath. That was a close one. I hope Nancy and Bess don’t get mad for me being gone for so long, I thought in my head. I opened the other door that is in the mansion. I walked down the front steps of the mansion; I climbed into my car and drove home.
I got to Nancy’s house around 6:30. I rang the doorbell and waited.
“George your back,” Nancy exclaimed as she hugged me, “Sit down, Bess is still here tell us all about it!”
I told them the story from beginning to end. I might have exaggerated when I told them how close I was getting caught. They almost flipped when I told them. It was definitely great to be back!
