The Footlighters are going to continue with the presentation of the puppet show later on this evening. "I am so excited for the puppet show tonight. It is going to be great, but I better get my lines fully memorized or else we will be doomed!" Nancy commented to herself on her way to the theater.
When she had entered there were already some of the cast member preparing for the night, and she went on up and started on her lines like everyone else.
Finally, the scenery was being finished, the puppets were made, and the lines have been perfected. "I think that we are just about ready to start on this, don't you think Mr. Spencer?" Nancy asked.
"I do think so Nancy. This is going to be great and your going to do well, I know it!" Mr. Spencer replied.
"I don't know if I could agree with you on that one, Mr. Spencer, but I am going to try!" Nancy exclaimed.
Now the lights are beginning to dim so that must mean that everyone is here and the show is going to begin, Nancy thought. Within only a few minutes after that thought the first of four scenes was already out there. Not too long after the first scene the second scene was on the stage (Nancy's scene). "Oh no Little John, you must not go into the dark woods. You could get severely hurt my child." Nancy explained.
"But Momma I won't, I promise!" Little John replied loudly. Just then a live size puppet enters onto the stage. Everyone in the audience gasps, when they see the puppet wildly enter the stage. "I wonder if that is one of the puppets Bees, George and I were looking for." "I also wonder if it could be a real person, but whom would it be?" Nancy puzzled to herself. "Obviously it would be someone that would not want the puppet show to take place." She thought.
Then suddenly the puppet clumsily stumbled over the stage floor, falling flat on its face. This puppet was a human! When it fell its mask came off and you could see that is was clearly Tammi Whitlock! Nancy scurried over to see if her head was okay because she slammed it on the floor when she fell. She was a little dazed but fine when she saw Nancy Drew was in her face. "Get off me you......you..." Tammi stammered to Nancy just as the police officer (that was standing at the front entrance) walked over. He then escorted her into a private room where Nancy, George and Bess could ask a few questions. Meanwhile, the puppet show was at its intermission until everything was sorted out.
The police officer stayed in the room in case Tammi tried to threaten or physically attack one of the girls. He would then be there to control her actions. The girls then started with a few questions "Do you have anything to do with the dancing puppets?" Bess asked.
"What puppets?" Tammi replied as if she didn't have any clue of what they were talking about.
"You know what we are talking about, don't act like it is all new to you!" George shouted back at her.
"How would you know if I know anything about them or not?" Tammi replied with a big smirk on her face.
"Well, because you have said things like 'Don't go up there or else I will have you fired!' You threatened us against going there. Do you think we are stupid? We new you were hiding something up there!" Bess exclaimed.
"Also you have been doing some unexpected things lately such as barging in on the puppet show! Why was that?" Nancy questioned.
"Um, well you see um... AHH! Fine you got me I know about the puppets. I didn't want you to do that puppet show because you were always taking everything over NANCY DREW and this was all mine before you came and I want it back!" Tammi confessed.
"I new it had to be you in that puppet outfit on the stage Tammi!" Nancy accused.
Later on that evening the puppet show finished successfully and Tammi Whitlock and her buddies were sent to jail for trying to steal people's jewelry. "Well that was a tough mystery Mr. Spencer had us solve, but we did it with a few bumps and bruises this time!" George giggled.
All three girls returned home to the Drew's house for some of Ms. Gruens wonderful food. Then Bess and George were taken home by Mr. Drew. The girls always have a good time together. "Where would their next mystery take them?" They all wondered.
