Little Red Riding Hood

Malika D

"Little red ridding hood," called her mother, "please take this basket of gifts to your grandmother.  She is very ill and this may cheer her up. Don't you forget to stay along the path and no talking to strangers".
     "Okay mother", she replied.
As little red riding hood skipped of with the basket of goodies she put on her hood of red velvet which her grandmother gave her. She loved it and she always wore it.
Her grandmother lived far out in a forest a little ways from the village, but walking through the forest was often eerie. When riding hood entered the forest, there was a horrifying creature there to greet her. He was an evil and cruel scheming wolf, and was out to gobble down each and every bone of this little girl. Now little red riding hood had no idea of how wicked this creature was and she was not the least bit afraid of him.
"Good morning", said the wolf trying to sound polite.
     "Thank you, wolf."
"What brings you her so early?" asked the wolf.
"Oh, I'm going to my grandmother's house."
"And what do you have in that basket?" asked the wolf nosily.
"Cake and wine, she answered, my poor grandmother is sick and this should help her to get stronger."
"Where does your grandmother live?" his eyes glowing red.
"About a half mile farther in the forest, it's by two large oak trees; you probably have seen it before."
The wolf thought to himself, "What a young tender creature! What a delicious plump snack to chew on- she will be much better to swallow then that old woman. I need to act very cleverly and slyly to devour both." And so the wolf walked along side her, and whispered, "See little red riding hood, how pretty the flowers are you should pick some for your dear old grandmother, I'm sure she would love them."
"Yes", she thought, "I should." And she ran off the path to look for some. As she picked the flowers, each time she saw a better bunch off into the distance, and ran to get those too. So eventually she got deeper and deeper into the murky forest.
Meanwhile the wolf ran straight to the grandmother's house hoping for a juicy meal. He knocked on the door and heard:
     "Who is there?"
"It's me little, red riding hood, I brought you some cake and wine, open the door,".
"Its unlocked I am too weak and cannot get up."
The wolf swung open the door, licked his lips, and without saying a word he ran to the bed and quickly gulped down every last bit of the poor old lady. Blood dripping from his mouth, he put on the woman's clothes and cap, drew the curtains, and then stretched out across the bed while waiting for his second meal.
When little red riding hood had picked so many flowers that she could no longer hold anymore, she remembered her grandmother and continued to walk towards the house.
She was surprised to find the cottage door already open, and when she went into the room, she had such a strange feeling about it that she said to herself, "Why do I feel so weird right now? I usually love coming here. Good morning", she called out, but received no answer.  Walking towards the bed, she saw her grandmother with her cap over her head and looked very odd.
“Oh grandmother”, she exclaimed, “what huge, and hairy ears you have.”
“The better to hear you with, my child”, he replied.
“But grandmother, what large red eyes you have”.
“The better see you with, my dear.”
“Grandmother what enormous dirty hands you have”.
“The better to hug you with”.
“Oh, but grandmother what a terribly huge drooly mouth you have!”
“The better to eat you with”, the wolf hollered.
And with a leap up from bed the wolf did just that with one great swollow of little red riding hood.
When the wolf satisfied his appetite, he lay back down on the bed, fell asleep, and began to snore very loudly.
The huntsman had been just passing the house when he heard the snoring.  He walked in to see the wolf.  “I found you, you devil!” “ I’ve waited for this moment to kill you!”  Just then he relized the wolf had eaten the grandmother and girl.  So he took a pair of sharp scissors and began to cut away through the wolf’s stomach. Blood began to seep though out the bed. After a few tough snips, he began to see her red hood.
“Oh that was so horrible !  It was pitch black in there”, exclaimed little red riding hood.
Shortly after, out came the grandmother panting out of breath.
Surprisingly, the wolf was still asleep after all of this and out of it.
Little red riding hood wanted to get back at the awful creature, so she came up with a clever idea. She immediately picked up as many stones as she could and stuffed the wolf’s stomach up with them. You could see bumps on the skin from where the rocks were.
When the wolf woke up and saw all of them standing over him watching, he wanted to ran right out of there, but he couldn’t. As soon as he got up to move, he fell right over from the massive weight in his stomach and died right there.
All three were relived and delighted.  The huntsman sliced off the wolf’s skin and took it home. Finally they got to eat the cake and drink the wine.  Little red riding hood was happy and thought everything was fine now that the wolf was gone, but she was wrong.
On her way home she joyfully skipped along the path through the forest. When she got home there was something in her house greeting her at the door to say hi, there was something wearing the same clothes her mother wears, and there was something there waiting for thier dinner, but that something was not her mother.
