Meaningful homework helps students to succeed in school and learn helpful study habits.  Homework gives students a chance to practice what they have learned in school and to deepen their understanding of what is taught.  Homework also provides an opportunity for students to share what they are learning with their parents/guardians.  In general, students should average the following amount of time on homework:

6^th grade - 45 minutes, four times per week
7^th grade - 1 hour, four times per week
8^th grade - 1 hour and 15 minutes, four times per week

Long-term assignments such as research papers, special projects, and exceeds assignments may add to these amounts.
