The traditional Turkey Day football game between Portland and Deering high schools is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day, Thursday. Nov. 24, at Fitzpatrick Stadium. Kickoff is at 10 a.m. this year for the 110th edition of the game. Game day tickets are $5 for general admission, $3 for seniors and veterans and free for students with an ID/Metro Pass. The Portland Public Schools looks forward to seeing the Portland community come out to celebrate this tradition and cheer on our students while enjoying the game. It’s also an opportunity to reconnect with former classmates and friends, while working up an appetite for the Thanksgiving meal.
Three very prestigious awards will be presented after the game:
- The Merv Gilgore Award will be presented for the 37th time to the most outstanding Deering player
- The Vinnie Allen Award will be presented for the 40th time to the most outstanding Portland player
- The James A. Banks Unsung Hero Award will be presented for 41st time to a hard-working player for his contributions on and off the field
