02/03/2025 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well. I am sending it to update you on what is happening at our school. As winter has arrived and common illnesses are circulating, our school nurse has provided essential guidelines concerning student health. These guidelines specify when students should remain at home due to illness and when they are fit to return to school.

Happy New Year! We look forward to a season of warmth and togetherness as winter approaches. Please make sure our students dress warmly to help them stay comfortable in the cold. We are happy to announce that students can enter the building at 7:45 a.m. This will give them a chance to come in from the cold and have breakfast.

As we start the new year, I want to highlight a topic essential to your child's health and academic success: sleep. Middle school students need approximately 8-10 hours of sleep each night to support their physical, emotional, and cognitive development. Please click this link for more information on Sleep for Middle Schoolers.

As the seasons change, the school nurse has provided essential guidelines concerning student health. These guidelines specify when students should remain at home due to illness and when they are fit to return to school.

As winter approaches, we eagerly anticipate a season of warmth, growth, and togetherness. To help our students prepare for the colder days ahead, please ensure they are dressed appropriately. We are pleased to announce that students can now enter the building before 8:05 AM, providing them a chance to come in from the cold.

To support our community, we are organizing a coat and boot drive for students in need. If you would like to contribute by donating a new or gently used coat or boots, we invite you to drop them off at the front office. Additionally, if your family is in need of assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out for support. Together, we can make this winter season more comfortable for all.

As we embrace the vibrant season of fall, we want to celebrate the wonderful happenings at Lyman Moore Middle School and share some key upcoming events. November is an exciting month filled with learning opportunities, community engagement, and personal growth.

Important Dates to Remember: Parent-Teacher Conferences: Thursday and Friday, November 14th and 15th, from 12:30-6:00 PM. Students will be released early at 11:50 AM on both days. Families will have a 20-minute meeting with their student’s advisor and 10 minutes with a priority teacher. For more comprehensive discussions, we encourage scheduling additional conferences at a later date. This time is essential for connecting with your child's teachers about their progress and achievements. Please sign up for a conference if you haven’t already done so. Note that teachers will take a dinner break from 4:00 to 4:30 PM. Thanksgiving Break: November 27-29th. We hope you enjoy this well-deserved time with family and friends. School will resume on Monday, December 2, 2024.

I’m sharing this reminder, especially for our newer families, to ensure everyone knows that school will continue to be a safe, inclusive, and focused learning environment on October 31.
