Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you in great spirits! As we kick off our second month of school, our students are getting comfortable with their routines and diving into their lessons.

Here are some important dates and helpful links to keep you in the loop.

Attendance:

Being present and on time every day is crucial for keeping students engaged in learning and preventing them from falling behind. For more information, please refer to the attached flyer: CountMeIn. To report absences or messages to the main office, please send them to mooresecretary@portlandschools.org. 

After-School Clubs:

Some after-school clubs will begin this Friday. Please check the announcements link below to stay updated on which clubs start during October.

Device-Free Electronics REPLACEMENT FORM:

Please find the replacement form linked HERE. You may find Yondr overview HERE This policy has been effective since September 8, 2025. To enhance your understanding, you may find several important links regarding Yondr available for your convenience.Student Advisory Lesson,  Parent Yondr Presentation, No Electronic Agreement, and behavior response procedures. 

Volunteering:

Additionally, we will launch our various enrichment activities and clubs that students are welcome to join in October. If you are interested in volunteering, please use the district volunteer link provided volunteer link. Our Families For Moore meeting is on September 8th from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. All parents are welcome and encouraged to join us in becoming involved in our school community.

Upcoming events for October:

  • 3 - Lion Club Vision Testing in the library
  • 6 - Families For Moore Parent Night 6:00-7:00 PM in the main lobby
  • 6 - Social Studies (7th grade) Speaker Seth Goldstein from the South Portland Historical Society will speak to students from the perspective of a historian and tour guide, focusing on Portland's Black history. His presentation will primarily explore the maritime sector of the mid-19th century and will take place in the library.
  • 6, 7, and 8th - Orchestra students at Deering 9:30-11:30 AM
  • 6, 7, and 10th - 8th graders with Rippleffect at Cow Island
  • 9 - Family Night for 6th grade 6:00-7:00 PM in the library
  • 9 - High School Preference Night Open House @ Casco Bay High 6:00-7:30 PM
  • 16 - PTC 3:00-7:00 PM
  • 17 - PTC 3:00-6:30 PM
  • 20 - State Senator Jill Duson visits for National School Lunch Week
  • 28 and 29th- 7th Graders with Rippleffect
  • 28 - Flu Clinic 12:30-3:00 PM
